Community Guidelines

Last updated: 21 March 2026

Artlapse is a platform for visual artists to share their creative process. These guidelines exist to keep the community a safe, inspiring, and respectful place for every creator. By using Artlapse, you agree to follow them.

What belongs on Artlapse

Artlapse is for art process content: timelapses, work-in-progress videos, studio footage, and creative documentation of any visual art form. This includes but is not limited to painting, drawing, digital art, sculpture, illustration, printmaking, ceramics, textile art, and photography.

Content should primarily focus on the creation, process, or exploration of art. Content that is unrelated to art (such as general lifestyle vlogs, daily life content, or unrelated entertainment) is outside the scope of this platform and may be removed, even if it does not violate any other rule.

Be yourself, share your process, and engage genuinely with other creators.

Be respectful

Treat every creator with respect. Constructive feedback and honest discussion are welcome. The following are never acceptable:

  • Harassment, bullying, or targeted abuse of any user
  • Hate speech or content that dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or any other characteristic
  • Threats of violence or calls for harm against any person or group
  • Sharing someone's private information without their consent (doxxing)

Post your own work

Only upload content that you created or that you have explicit permission to share. Do not upload:

  • Other artists' work without clear permission and credit
  • Videos or music that you do not own or have a licence for
  • Content that reproduces copyrighted material without a valid fair use or equivalent justification

If you use music, sound effects, or reference material in your video, ensure you have the rights to do so. Using copyrighted music without a licence, even as background audio, may result in your post being muted or removed.

Keep it appropriate

Artlapse is open to users aged 13 and above. Content must be suitable for a general audience. Do not post:

  • Sexually explicit or pornographic content
  • Graphic violence or gore
  • Content that sexualises or endangers minors in any way

Artistic nudity in an educational or fine art context may be permitted at our discretion, but explicit sexual content is never allowed.

AI-generated content

Artlapse is built for human artists. We believe in the value of human creative work, and this platform exists specifically to celebrate and document that process. Content where the primary output is fully generated by an AI tool, presented as your own artistic work, is not permitted.

We acknowledge that AI tools are increasingly part of modern creative workflows and that partial use cannot always be determined. We are not trying to police every creative decision you make. However, if it is obvious that content has been primarily produced by AI and is misrepresented as hand-made human work, it may be removed. We rely on the community to report such content and on our own judgment to act on clear cases.

If you use AI as one step in a broader human creative process, you are encouraged (though not required) to mention this in your post description. Transparency with your audience is part of what makes this community trustworthy.

No spam or low-effort content

  • Do not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform
  • Do not post repetitive or low-effort content purely to game the algorithm. Low-effort content includes material that consists primarily of reused or recycled footage, minimal edits without meaningful artistic process, or content that does not authentically document a creative process
  • Do not create multiple accounts to evade a ban or suspension
  • Do not mislead other users about your identity or the nature of your content

No illegal content

Do not post anything that is illegal under Swedish law or the laws of the country where you reside. This includes content that promotes illegal activity, facilitates fraud, or involves the exploitation of any person.

Reporting

If you see content that violates these guidelines or that you believe is illegal, use the report button on the post or profile. You can also contact us directly at [email protected]. When reporting, please include the URL of the content and a description of the issue.

A post that receives multiple reports may be automatically hidden pending review. We review all reports and process them in a timely and non-arbitrary manner in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act.

Enforcement

We enforce these guidelines with a tiered approach depending on the severity and frequency of the violation:

Warning

For first-time or minor violations. You will receive a notice explaining the issue. The content may be removed.

Content action

Content may be removed, audio may be muted (in the case of copyright violations), or the post may be hidden.

Temporary suspension

For repeated or more serious violations. Your account will be suspended for a set period.

Permanent ban

For severe violations, such as illegal content, exploitation of minors, or repeated serious misconduct, your account will be permanently removed.

We reserve the right to skip any step and immediately remove content or ban accounts for severe violations.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation action was made in error, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Moderation Appeal". We review all appeals fairly and respond within a reasonable time.

Updates

These guidelines may evolve as the platform grows. We will notify the community of significant changes through the platform.
